While we compiled our 2015 issue of The Femellectual, we found ourselves in a climate of unrest, anger, and pain. We saw injustice and brutality on the news. We saw activists calling for change. We saw our own campus calling for change as the Mobilizing Anger Collective was formed by faculty seeking to channel this outpouring of emotion into action. The 2015 issue of The Fem adopted a Zine format to allow complete freedom of expression and minimal constraints on form. Our submissions felt therapeutic, and we recognized that the art we captured often was the product of initial stages of processing and organizing. The Fem 2015, “Voices of the Voiceless,” represents a perfectly strained and erratic outcry, the rawness of the human experience, and the truths of struggle.
